The concept of the portable battery operated vibrating alarm clock was invented and patented by Mike Dines during 1985 then called the Travel Mate, later renamed the Shake Awake. The clock is a compact, self contained, battery operated vibrating alarm clock. When both the time and alarm have been set, the Shake Awake is positioned under your pillow. When the clock reaches alarm time, the clock produces powerful vibrations that effectively wake you up.
The ideal travel companion for deaf people and useful for hearing people who do not wish to wake the household when it is time to wake up.
