Alarms, bed leaving, bed sheet, epilepsy, baby door alarm, bed seizure
The range of bed seizure alarms detailed have been manufactured since 1996. During this time the product design has remained virtually the same.
The MEDPAGE range of seizure alarms are manufactured in accordance with our strict quality procedure (BS EN ISO 13485/8:2003) to ensure quality and reliability. These are the only epilepsy alarms manufactured in the UK that carry a medical CE mark, manufactured within the guidelines set out by the Medical Directive 93/42/EEC and issued by BSI Certificate CE 86690.
Each model detects a seizure in the same way. A sensor is placed between the mattress and the base of the bed. When a tonic/clonic (grand mal) seizure occurs, the resulting limb movements are detected by the bed sensor. An additional sensor detects oral sounds. Each sensor has a level control that adjusts the sensitivity of the sensors.
A further control, delay, can be adjusted so that normal movements during sleep are ignored. The main difference between the models are the signal output. That is, whether the alarm is a buzzer, radio pager, or a switch to operate other equipment, such as an existing nurse call system.
