Fibrositis, Shoulder Tendonitis, Arm Pain
Shoulder Pain during sleep is often caused by upward pressure on the joint. This pressure results in compression of the fluid around the joint and, if movement occurs during the night, this can cause discomfort as the joint is being moved whilst under pressure.
Fibromyalgia syndrome is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which their is no known cause, but which is very widely assumed to be connected with the immune system. Fibromyalgia means pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendons--the fibrous tissues in the body. FMS is what people used to call fibrositis, because they thought there was inflammation in the muscles, but research later proved that inflammation did not exist. There seems to be a set of three common factors among sufferers of FMS and CFS. These are a high-stress lifestyle, a weakened immune system , and emotional or physical trauma. Fibromyalgia is not a mental condition and don't let anybody tell you otherwise!
Tension in the shoulders can also aggrevate Fibrositis and may also result in numbness in the arms caused by inflammation of the nerves in the neck.
By simply allowing the shoulder to drop into the recess of the ORO Recessed Mattress the head and torso are now correctly supported and the pressure on the shoulder joint is removed as the shoulder is below the surface of the mattress in the recess.
